Rebecca Thistleton | Labor candidate for South Barwon.
Listening first. Speaking up for South Barwon.

Victoria votes in November 2026.
Who should I vote for in South Barwon?

About me

Like many young families, my husband and I chose Armstrong Creek because it’s a great place to raise our kids.
I’m a mum with two young children, and I know how important it is to have strong public healthcare, childcare and great schools close to home.
As South Barwon grows, so does the responsibility to get things right for families, workers, and local communities.
Having a strong voice in state parliament matters, so that growth is matched with the services and opportunities people rely on.
I began my career as a journalist for community newspapers, then wrote for the Australian Financial Review. I then went to work for the Andrews Labor Government. I’m now Executive Director of The McKell Institute in Victoria, a think tank focused on practical and progressive policies for jobs and skills, fairness, and economic opportunity.
My work has always been about understanding how government decisions affect people’s lives.
I thrive on talking and listening to people, speaking up, and advocating for change.
